Dallas heals
My back has been hurting this past week do I have not worked out all
week. I plan to ride this weekend and see how the back does. Then I'll
be back at it next week hopefully.

I think I've gained some weight back. Makes it even harder to not get
up and workout. I'm just worried I'm going to really hurt something.

Week 7: Wednesday: Denver's Shoulders and Arms (are sore)
Even being back on track, I am still sore after these workouts with all this muscle confusion.
I'm running out of writing steam, as I've caught up to the current date. I'm sure Dallas thought I had fallen off the wagon once again. No! It's alive!

Week 7: Tuesday: Denver's Plyo-mania
Plyo always wakes me up.
Good workout. I'm in much better shape than last week!

Week 7: Monday: Denver Does Chest and Arms (Late Night Edition)
I used to hate this workout, and it has slowly become like an old friend. The 12 exercises, limited weights and ability to speed through the workout is a welcome respite from some of the more involved workouts.
I did pretty well with my reps and felt pretty good again.
It's good to be back on track. Looking for a strong finish. No excuses now!

Week 6: Denver took the Weekend Off
I had a Staycation and watched movies all weekend with my wife. I thought about doing Kenpo, but never seriously got the mojo to get it going.
Week 6: Friday: Denver's Legs Are Burning
I still loathe this workout!
I did okay, and the fact that I worked out the entire week probably helped me out a bit.
It definitely helped to lower the weight for the first exercise, the deep lunges.
Dallas has a big riding schedule this summer, so I doubt he'll need to maintain much this summer. I'm going to live vicariously through him and hope to someday get on the bike bandwagon.
Hopefully we can keep this blog going in some form, though it is probably a good way for people to see how the motivation can have it's ebb and flow.

Week 6: Thursday: Denver Did Cardio X
I had done this routine once before, just to try it out after my first round. I had forgotten what it was like. It's basically a combo of Yoga, Kenpo and Plyometrics. I like it, although I am not sure it is as gratifying a workout as all of those individually. It's definitely more enjoyable than doing the 1 1/2 hour of Yoga.
I wasn't able to keep up with posting, so I apologize. The Rangers were in the playoffs and I basically ignored the blog for a while. I know I've promised to be regular before, but I mean it this time. Honest. I'll never leave you again, baby, now order the pizza! ;-)
As for my calorie burning, I think my heart rate monitor is okay. One thing is that my doctor described me as a furnace and my rating was +26% (Fast) and I burn 2304 calories a day doing nothing but sitting on the couch. My V02 was measured at 334 ml/min. Not sure what all these numbers mean, but I think the spike in my calories was due to several things I didn't elaborate on:
1. I took a lot of breaks, in fact by the time I was done, it was about 1 and 1/2 hours. Of course my heart rate was still going during this time, so that added to the inflated calorie count.
2. My heart rate was really high. Higher than it's ever been. Not sure why, but maybe because I had not done any strenuous routines in a while.
3. My Heart rate monitor may have set me at a lower target range because of my inactivity. I was over the target zone for the entire workout, which I think increases the calorie counting. I think Dallas is much more informed about these things, especially how to maximize the monitor. I pretty much just push the button and start, letting the Polar "OwnZone" do it's thing.

Week 6 - Saturday - Dallas rides
Well I didn't do kenpo. I rode three hrs instead. Really windy. Headed
north with the wind and flew( felt great). Rode 21 mile in an hour.
Then turned around heading south and came to a stand still. Took me
two hours to get back at 9 miles and hour. Boy was that a wake up
call. Burned 2500 calories

Week 6 - Thursday - Dallas does NOT do Yoga - Rides
Got up at 4:50 and went for a one hour ride. I need to get used to my road bike seat again.
I don't see how Denver burned 1500 calories during a one hour Plyo? You might want to check your HR monitor. I burn 650 or so in a hour??

Week 6 - Wed - Dallas does Back and Biceps
Looks like Denver is back with his much better written posts. I'm sorry to say you won't get that from me. Glad to have you back Denver.
I too took way to much time off. My weights were much lower and my reps fell as well. My back still hurts so this week I dropped all my weights by 5 lbs to try and see if that would help. Not much.
I did get Ab Ripper in....I didn't really think I would get it done.
As for an August round...let's see. I have:
Trip out of town first week of Aug
100 mile ride end of August (IN TEXAS - great temps by then)
101 mile ride two weeks later in Tulsa
then my 90 mile ride in Austin at the end of Oct.
I may have to make these weeks very light...but I'll put it on my schedule to see.
Week 6: Wednesday: Denver's Biceps are Bulging!
Glam muscles.
I can't lift my arms, but it was worth it. I even did Ab-Ripper (which I had decided was overkill! Yeah, I know!)
It was frustrating that I couldn't hit the weights I had previously managed well. I was being ambitious and then I would lose all my strength after 5 or 6 reps. Very frustrating.
I'm feeling better about myself now that I am back on track. Of course it's only my third day in a row after a few weeks of (Almost) Death and Taxes. Okay, I wasn't that sick, but I needed to flex my cultural literacy street cred!
Anyway,

Week 6: Tuesday: Denver Pushes Play for Plyo!
Cool, I don't think I've used that title before.
First Plyo in a while meant lots of Pauses and my heart rate was pretty high. I burned 1500 calories, so that gives me an excuse to order a pizza during the rangers Playoff game tomorrow night!
It's all downhill after the Mary Catherine's. Up until that point I was fighting it big time.
Good to see Dallas is doing well. We'll finish this round strong and then it will probably be limited in the summer. I'll probably do another full routine in August or September (probably try to sync with Dallas again. Of course that means that it might overlap with the holidays if we don't start in mid-August.

Week 6: Monday: Denver Returns with a Taxing Workout
I did Chest, Shoulders and Triceps today. As usual, taking time off to be sick was a major setback and I had very low rep totals. It was pretty good though and my arms were feeling it.
I still failed at the two speed twitch push-ups. I will get them eventually!

Denver Does Taxes
I have a part time gig as a tax preparer so I am pretty much spent. I got sick again last week which is frustrating me to no end. I'll be back on board starting on Thursday.

Monday the 13th - Dallas redoes Chest, Shoulders and Tris
Again - I'm not sure what day this is. It should be a redo of the
start of the 2nd month.
start of the 2nd month.
I didn't push it too hard. Last time I started after a break I was
sore for a few days. I'll ease back into this. Not enough time for
Abs.
I'll do them tonight.
Sunday the 12th - Dallas gets back on the bike
I have not idea what day it is in my quest for round two completion.
I can tell you Sunday I slipped out and went on a short ride before
the final 6 holes of the Masters. It was quick but felt good to get
riding again.
